Job Description

The academic staff of the animation studio shape the direction of this workplace, shape its conceptual content and participate to a significant extent in the fulfilment of intermediality within the department of intermedia studies, as well as in the active formation of a healthy artistic and educational environment that reflects current phenomena and tries to meaningfully communicate them and work with them.

(Professional) assistants participate in teaching in bachelor's and master's degree programmes (including opposing and supervising final theses). They actively participate in creative activities (especially in the form of active publication activity in peer-reviewed journals, or other forms of publication output according to the requirements of the field and in accordance with the requirements of the standards of creative activity at UO, active participation in scientific conferences and professional meetings, active presentation of the results of creative activity; in the case of artistic disciplines in the form of active artistic activity). In addition, (professional) assistants participate in the third role of the university, especially in the form of popularizing creative activity, in the administration connected with the performed activity and in the self-administration of the university.

Estimated Amount of Work

  • 1,0 (if the University decides to employ a couple, the FTE will be divided between the two)

Qualifications

  • Master or PhD degree in the area of fine arts, ideally in animated creation
  • Knowledge and skills in Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign, TV Paint or other animation software
  • Knowledge and skills in animated creation, film direction, audiovisual effects, which must be documented by creation, teaching or practice in the field
  • Czech language – level C1
  • English language competency B2 level
  • EU research level: R1/R2

Expected Start Date

  • September 2024, but may be subject to change.

Language in Which the Selection Process Will Be Conducted

  • Czech

The first round of the selection procedure will take place without the personal presence of the candidates by the assessment of the submitted materials by the selection committee.

Second round will take place in the form of public presentation in front of academic audience of the faculty and will include summary of own artistic creation in connection with the concept of working as an assistant (professor) in the Studio of animated creation.

The Dean of the Faculty reserves the right to invite only selected candidates to a personal meeting and the right to also not select any candidate. The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music of the University of Ostrava may also cancel or repeat the selection procedure.
