Graphic Design Studio

Graphics - Graphic Design (B.A.)

Bachelor's degree in graphics – Graphic Design Studio focuses on cultural societal scene and maps its need for designers with a complex overview and professional analysis skills, those who are able to convert their own artistic designs and solutions on a high aestetics level into life.

Emphasis is placed on working with text, which serves as a space orientation tool; and working with space, which represents background for the text. The cornerstone rests in the process during which students work on their assignment being closely aligned with the nature of their task, being aware of the contractor´s need and yet keeping their artistic identity. The studio management offers a helping hand for students and stimulates their growth as to deepen their knowledge and enhance their experience resulting in original and authentic artistic activities. Students are encouraged to express and be aware of their own personality while studying drawing, basics of typography, text analysis and spatial relationships. Students work on projects ranging from graphic design brochures to exhibition catalogues, posters, architectural solutions of exhibitions or scenography looked at with overall concept yet with full emphasis on details. By engaging in team-consultations the students foster critical thinking and are inspired by their different ideas and probes into researched subjects. During the semester, invited external experts deliver lectures and run workshops wishing to deepen students' knowledge and thus creating space for other solution variants.

You will learn basics in the field of graphic design and visual communication. You will be aware of individual components of visual language functions - image creation, composition, typography, combination of image and text and technologies necessary for the creation of graphic design (software, manual techniques, drawings, painting, graphic techniques, digital techniques/coding). You will get solid orientation in artistic genres, their historical development and forms, alongside with orientation in contemporary development of technical and expressive means of graphic design and visual communication. You will be able to create independently and creatively, to reflect analytically and critically your own working approaches as well as other graphic or artistic approaches. You will master graphic techniques and have an overview of current trends in the field. You will be able to work with both digital and analog tools (2D and 3D printing digital technologies, screen printing, offset, computer software, internet environment).
