Painting II (Bc.)

Bachelor's program specializing in Painting 2 offers a comprehensive and professional education in the field of art painting. This specialization is focused on conceptual and intermedial overlaps in painting.

The aim of the study is to guide students sensitively into finding their "personal" topics and at the same time being able to rationally reflect and interpret their own artistic attitudes. Painting 2 study content aspires to render a cognitive perception of reality, show a direction towards free and independent way of thinking, roots of which is embedded in the philosophical systems of our civilization. Painting 2 also makes use of the comparative methods of cognition process, examines methods of critical thinking and nourishes ability to use performance forms in the artworks. Experience gained in these areas pave way to a convincing expression of artistic intent, which might consciously cross the already established art boundaries. Guidance is also provided in learning to work with computer programs, using graphical 2D and 3D software that allow image processing when establishing the painting groundwork. The program consists of exams, case studies and offer personal consultations to the extent proportional to the student's interest in the subject. The quantitative plan of study follows and matches the qualitative development of student's creative personality.

As a student of the program, you will learn to: create a painting on a quality artistic level, create a painting series or other artistic realizations and being able to argue it through critical art reviews, master traditional, conceptual, intermedial and other painting methods of image creation or other artistic realizations, master basic digital technologies for image creation, prepare a separate exhibition or project, get oriented in the art history with emphasis laid on conceptual and intermedial arts, effectively use the principal art terminology, gather knowledge of the most important art works in the field, get oriented in primary and secondary literature related to the field, create his/her own art work presentation in the form of a portfolio, catalogue or as a digital output, get orientated in the self-management of artistic life and acquire curatorial skills.

Painting II (MA.)

The follow-up master's program specializing in Painting 2 offers comprehensive and professional education in the field of art painting. This specialization is focused on conceptual and intermedial overlaps in painting.

The aim of the study is to guide students sensitively into finding their "personal" topics and at the same time being able to rationally reflect and interpret their own artistic attitudes. Painting 2 offer the epistemological method of cognition, critical thinking and nourishes ability to use performance forms in the artworks. Experience gained in these areas pave way to a convincing expression of artistic intent, which might consciously cross the already established art boundaries. Guidance is also provided in learning to work with computer programs, using graphical 2D and 3D software that allow image processing when establishing the painting groundwork. Master's studies place great emphasis on setting the creation process into a conceptual frame, from conceiving the artistic idea, processing it formally and having its culmination in actual realization of the artwork in a gallery environment. The program consists of exams, case studies and offer personal consultations to the extent proportional to the student's interest in the subject. The quantitative plan of study follows and matches the qualitative development of student's creative personality.

As a student of the program, you will learn to: create a painting on a quality artistic level, create a painting series or other artistic realizations and being able to argue it through critical art reviews, master traditional, conceptual, intermedial or other painting methods of image creation or other artistic realizations, master basic digital technologies for image creation, prepare a separate exhibition or project, get oriented in the art history with emphasis laid on conceptual and intermedial arts, effectively use the principal art terminology, get oriented in Czech and World Post-1945 art, get an elementary knowledge of modern interpretive strategies, from iconographic and iconological methods through formalistic/aesthetic, structural and semiological methods up to psychological, phenomenological or sociological approaches, cultivate the ability to step forward as an independent author/artist and being able to defend and creatively solve theoretical and/or practical problems in artistic life, encourage the ability to question established artistic standards and applying professional and interdisciplinary knowledge to one's own artistic practice, get oriented in primary and secondary literature related to the studied subject, get oriented in technical image area related to painting medium, create his/her own art work presentation in the form of a portfolio, catalogue or as a digital output, get oriented in historical layers of ancient, modern and contemporary art with emphasis laid on conceptual and intermedial art, get orientated in the self-management of artistic life, acquire curatorial skills and being able to create strategy in the area of contemporary art, being able to work conceptually within an institutional frame (galleries, museums, festivals etc.)
